Throwback Thursday: Kryptonian Box Office

Since Harry Potter’s 8-film quest concluded two years ago, Warner Bros. has needed a new “golden egg” franchise and Man of Steel seems to be the beginning of the next big film franchise (like 2008’s Iron Man was for Marvel and Disney).

Warner Bros. risked a lot on the film: spending $225 on the movie and casting a British actor (Henry Cavill) as the star for this new project; however, with great risks come great rewards. Even though the film has only been in theaters for a week, there’s already buzz around a Justice League film to compete with Marvel’s The Avengers at some point in the future.

But before they can move onto the Justice League, the studio has to introduce a few more heroes. Warner Bros. would reboot the Batman franchise (forgetting what Christopher Nolan did with his Dark Knight trilogy), and bring us a new Batman operating in same on-screen universe as the Man of Steel aka Superman. We’ll stay tuned to see how this plays out. For now, let’s just enjoy Man of Steel, in theaters now.
